In the meeting between Dr. Seyyed Hassan Ghazizadeh Hashemi, minister of Health and Medical Education and Dr. Hamid Mirzadeh, President of IAU, the minister spoke highly of IAU’s greatest achievement in bolstering and enhancing higher education throughout the country and preventing the immigration of students.

Dr. Hashemi welcomed the positive outcomes of this MoU, one of which is bringing IAU entities closer to functioning as operational units in Ministry of Health and Medical Education so they can cooperate and be mutually effective in developing higher education in medical sciences.

The IAU president, Dr. Hamid Mirzadeh, expressed his hopes to start up 4 IAU-run hospitals - Farhikhtegan, Kazerun, Ardabil, and Tabriz - with over 98% of progress in construction operations, by the end of this year.

“The 4th decade programs of the university are to focus on the IAU mission, increase its effectiveness, and enhance the quality of its services… More than 14 percent of university funds are allocated to medical affairs and we are currently considering increasing that rate to 20 percent,” he noted.

Dr. Mohammad Bagher Larijani, Deputy Minister of Medical Education, stated that IAU owns facilities and infrastructure in many regions and signing this MoU could help solve manpower shortages in medical fields.

It is worth mentioning that the MoU has been signed with the objective of utilizing manpower and faculty members, promoting educational quality, and also developing the ways in which the Ministry of Health and Medical Education will supervise adherence to standards for 5 years from the date of signature.
